Echoes of the Past is a collection of recordings that have been designed to bring the past alive for the modern day and future listener. Each 60-minute recording in the series focuses on a different aspect of our past. The recording are done in a "Studio Live" fashion. By "Studio Live," we mean that each recording is done in a sound studio with an effort made to duplicate the sounds one would have heard in the historical setting where one would have originally heard the material be it a tavern, a home, a picnic, or where ever. This is done to give the listener the best possible feel that they are actually there as they listen to the recording.
The material used on these recordings is a mix of story, tale and song laid over an instrumental background. The folklore is drawn from period sources as are the historical accounts. The folk music was either written during the period or was written at a later date in such a manner as to seem to have been written in the period. If the latter is the case, it is noted on both the recording and liner notes.
